DUMBO
Written by Vedanti Sojitra
The movie Dumbo tells a classic underdog story about a young elephant who is mocked for his large ears. He looked different than all the other elephants. He tries many ways to fit in with the rest of the crowd. Dumbo allowed others to control his identity by letting the other elephants call him “Dumbo” when his real name was “Jumbo”. He also tries to hide his ears by tucking them in or keeping them out of the way so he doesn’t draw attention. But soon, with the help of Milly and Joe, Dumbo was able to realize that he could use his ears to fly and they soon became an asset. Dumbo's “flaws” became a strength. He was not embarrassed or insecure about his ears anymore, he realized they were a gift. They made him unique and powerful.
Lesson to Learn:
Your “flaws” aren’t your biggest insecurity, they're your biggest superpower. If Dumbo never tried to fly, he would never realize it's his biggest strength. He learned to embrace himself and be himself no matter the size of his ears. No matter how big or small your “flaw” is, learn to embrace it. It makes you unique and totally you.
